Please note:
The majority of courses require a Digital SLR camera (with manual controls). Course fees do not include supplies or textbooks unless otherwise indicated. A $20 processing fee is charged for all withdrawals.

Digital Photography
Students create photo-based images with a digital single lens reflex camera, computer graphics software and printing technology. As students explore the fundamentals of image composition and the operation of a digital camera, they learn
to capture, manipulate, edit, print and mount digital images. Participants are to bring their own digital SLR camera.

Digital SLR I
This is a course for those who already have a working knowledge of their digital SLR camera and want more control and confidence to create the images they want. The course covers DSLR photography from the inside out. Learn how digital images are made and how to control camera settings for proper exposures. Learn how to operate your camera in manual mode to take pictures in all kinds of situations. Discuss historical and contemporary photographs for compositions, tone, style and concept. Digital SLR camera with manual control required.

NEW! Digital SLR II
This project based course challenges participants with an exploration of the technical and creative aspects of DSLR photography. Participants learn how to utilize the Zone System to gain greater control of exposures, and experiment with the artistic and technical potential of camera controls. The instructor will combine a progressive series of assignments with a discovery of how to look at and critique photographic work. Students are required to spend time out of class to complete assignments. Digital SLR camera with manual control required. Prerequisite: This course is for participants who have a solid knowledge of their DSLR. Digital SLR I recommended.

NEW! Digital Darkroom
From capture to output, this digital photography lab course introduces participants to the practical, creative and technical aspects of working with digital images. The hands-on course covers a range of areas from image adjustment to colour and tone control to printing. Participants are introduced to workflow principles and a range of software needed to sort, edit and manage a library of photographic images. Important strategies to back-up and preserve photographic files are also introduced.
Working knowledge of DSLR photography is required.

Are you the family photographer appointed to capture the day? Learn how to document the key moments in a wedding or other group occasion. Special topics include tricky indoor lighting, arranging large and small groups, anticipating and shooting action, and much more. Creating a Narrative with Photographs
Documentary photographers and photojournalists know how to tell a story by capturing the right moment. This project based course covers narrative, representational and documentary photography, and introduces the technical skills and principles of visually effective work. Techniques of thematic development, communicating with an audience, and storyboarding are learned to create individual and meaningful photographic projects. Participants are to bring their own digital SLR camera and have a good working knowledge of their camera.
