Aboriginal Recruitment Assistant - STEP

The Aboriginal Education Centre at MacEwan's City Centre Campus has an opening for an Aboriginal Recruitment Assistant. This position will be responsible for recruiting potential Aboriginal learners to Grant MacEwan College as well as research best practices for recruitment and retention of Aboriginal students.

The successful candidate must promote and support MacEwan by disseminating information on College programs, student support services, conducting campus tours, coordinating and attending events such as career fairs and conferences. This incumbent will also assist the Aboriginal Education Centre Manager and Advisor with special projects as required.

Applicants must have a good understanding of MacEwan's post secondary programs, student funding sources, and the Aboriginal community and culture. The successful incumbent must have good communication and interpersonal skills and possess the ability to effectively problem solve and prioritize multiple tasks. Applicants should have good working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, possess a valid Alberta driver's license and be available to travel within Alberta. Previous relevant work experience is an asset. Applicants must also be currently enrolled in a post secondary program at Grant MacEwan College and be returning to school in the fall of 2009.

Salary:  $14.00 per hour, 35 hours per week

Term: May 2009 - August 28, 2009
