Project HOPE in the Media

2009-2010 Project HOPE Team:
Team Leaders:
Michelle Mahé
Nick Churchman

Our Mission:
The guiding principle of our student based non-profit organization has long been one of hope; hope that one could foster a form of globalization, not led by finance or profit-margins, but by people willing to learn from, and to help one another. In this sense, Project HOPE serves to bridge the divide between our community and others within Latin America

Project HOPE 2009-2010:
In May 2010, the team will travel to the BOSAWAS Biosphere in Northern Nicaragua. The area is the largest expanse of protected tropical rainforest outside of the Amazon Basin. In keeping with tradition, we partnered with Edmonton-based NGO Change for Children and its Nicaragua-based partner, Centro Humboldt.

We will fund and participate in the construction of two classrooms for middle and high schools students in the community of San Andres.

As the largest rainforest reserve north of the Amazon, the BOSAWAS is an important global carbon sink. Its health, therefore, is important not only to Nicaragua's indigenous peoples, but the global community.

Our Partners

Change for Children is an Edmonton based NGO that promotes action for systemic change and sustainable development through solidarity and partnership, by nurturing community, and by maintaining an integral, vital and stable organization.
