Plan to complete your fitness test shortly after submitting your application to the program. You cannot be considered for conditional acceptance to the program until the Admissions unit in the Office of the University Registrar receives your fitness results.

Scheduling your Fitness Test

You must schedule your fitness test through MacEwan University's Sport and Wellness. Testing is done on a first come, first served basis. We encourage you to take your test as early as possible. However, please make your arrangements after you have received an email from the admissions office with your student ID number.

  • For specific test-related inquiries, contact the Fitness staff at 780-497-5693.
  • For issues or concerns with purchasing your test, contact the Welcome Desk at 780-497-5300.
Cancellations and appointment changes must be made at least 24 hours in advance, otherwise you will be charged for the session.

Testing location

If you live in Edmonton and area (within 100km) you must take the test at MacEwan University City Centre Campus:

Register for the test at Sport and Wellness

If you live outside Edmonton and area (further than 100km) you will need to find a facility near you to take the fitness test, one with the appropriate equipment and CSEP-certified staff. Before you book your fitness test at another facility, please contact Terra Giggey at MacEwan University Sport and Wellness for the required paperwork:

Required Forms

Police Studies Fitness Test Forms

  • Be sure to complete the Get Active Questionnaire, ‘Police and Investigations Program, Police Studies Major Informed Consent’ and ‘Waiver’ forms and bring them, along with the ‘Physical Fitness Test Results’ sheet, with you to your evaluation.

If you are under the age of 18 you must have a parent or guardian sign your forms. If you fail to bring these forms with you we cannot complete the fitness test.


Refrain from:

  • Alcohol 6 hours before the fitness test
  • Vigorous exercise 6 hours before
  • Caffeine (coffee, tea, cola, etc.) 2 hours before
  • Smoking 2 hours before
  • Eating a meal 2 hours before
Shorts, a t-shirt and clean running shoes should be worn. Please be changed and ready at least 10 minutes before your evaluation time. Locker room facilities are available for use should you require a shower post-test.
