The Faculty of Arts and Science is currently recruiting for a Faculty Advisor for a full-time limited term position commencing May 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019, depending on availability of the successful candidate. The successful candidate will work with a team providing services to students in an environment which includes four-year baccalaureate degree and transfer programs.

Faculty Advisor responsibilities include advising students both individually and in large groups, developing students’ academic plans, providing accurate information regarding degree and graduation requirements at MacEwan University and other post-secondary institutions, interpreting University policies and procedures as they relate to students, and working collaboratively with other advisors and support units. Duties also include providing student enrolment assistance, developing advising materials and presentations, and supporting the Dean’s Office with program review, policy implementation, and other matters arising.

Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential. Candidates must possess excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills, be attentive to detail, flexible in approach, and have the ability to present to large groups. Post-secondary academic advising experience is an asset.

Applicants must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline and will demonstrate a commitment to undergraduate education.
