The School of Business at MacEwan University invites applications for one full-time, tenured appointment at the rank of Associate Professor, commencing 1 July 2019, to serve as the department chair of the Department of Organizational Behavior, Human Resources, and Management (OB, HR, & MGMT). Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. All positions are subject to budgetary approval. The School will consider applicants who have demonstrated teaching and research expertise in organizational behavior, human resources, or management.
The School of Business has over 71 full-time faculty, over half of which have terminal degrees. The Department of OB, HR, & MGMT has 18 faculty, and offers two Bachelor of Commerce majors: human resources, and management. The human resources major is accredited by CPHR Alberta.
Under the direction of the School of Business Dean, the Organizational Behavior, Human Resources, and Management Department Chair will provide academic leadership in the department. In particular, s/he will provide faculty mentorship, and guidance, as well as conduct annual evaluations; have financial responsibility for the departmental budget, resolve student disputes, and provide input on the effective utilization of School and University resources. As a tenured faculty member, the selected candidate will be expected to make progress with her/his research agenda, as well as teach undergraduate courses.
Preferred candidates will have:
- a PhD in Business, or a related field;
- evidence of excellent teaching ability, and a demonstrated primary commitment to undergraduate teaching;
- a demonstrated record of quality academic research in organizational behavior, human resources, or management;
- evidence of academic leadership capabilities;
- an academic record that meets or exceeds MacEwan University’s standards for tenure and the rank of Associate Professor;
- a clear willingness to support collegial academic governance;
- an ability to build and maintain relationships, internally and externally.
