MacEwan University is seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst for our HCM ERP Business Support Office. This is a term position with an end date of July 31, 2020.

MacEwan University has implemented a PeopleSoft enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to support our PeopleSoft Human Capital Management application. The Senior Business System Analyst provides analysis, direction, quality control and planning related to process execution and performance of the University’s ERP system and other sub systems in the area of Human Resources and Payroll. The role also ensures that the correct business functionality, requirements, and industry standards are addressed within computer and business applications. The Senior Business Analyst works in partnership with the business area management, Information and Technology Services, and client stakeholders in the analysis and development of enhancements to the University’s Business Process Management needs.

Major responsibilities include project based and on-demand business requirements analysis, coordinating future system projects, and identifying, prioritizing and developing action plans and responses to operational, maintenance and enhancement activities.

The successful candidate will have a post-secondary degree related to information combined with business analysis experience and minimum 5 years of working experience with PeopleSoft Software. Previous experience in Human Resources and payroll within a post-secondary or public institution is required.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are critical. You need to demonstrate the ability to conduct effective meetings and workshops coupled with excellent problem solving, analytical, and organizational skills.

Note: In your application, identify project life cycle experience as well as the PeopleSoft modules you have had experience with. Experience with integration between PeopleSoft suites of products is also desirable.


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts.

  • Strong analytical skills in transforming information from multiple sources into excellent document outcomes such as: business requirements and process descriptions, user case scenarios, workflow analysis and design blueprints.

  • Proficient and current in industry best practices for analysis and process modelling techniques.

  • Problem solving and structured analysis skills.

  • Applied ability to lead, facilitate, and organize.

  • Practices and actively supports a service-oriented and client-centered approach

  • Learns quickly when facing new challenges; analyses successes and failures for clues to improvements; demonstrates innovation and creativity to develop solutions.

  • Strong organizational and leadership skills in orchestrating multiple activities, effective resource deployment and prioritizing effectively.


Post-secondary degree in the relative business area with advanced working knowledge of PeopleSoft Software and information technology or related discipline, combined with directly relevant on-the-job experience. Equivalents and work experience will be considered.


Minimum of 5 years as a business analyst or system analyst working with PeopleSoft HCM.
