Opened in September 2005, the MacEwan Residence is located at the City Center Campus and houses nearly 900 students in a variety of bachelor, 2 bedroom and 4 bedroom suite-style units. Our goal is to provide a safe, secure and affordable housing option to students that supports their learning, development and personal growth.
The Department of Residence Services is currently seeking an enthusiastic and committed individual to fill the role of Housing Assistant. Reporting to the Housing Manager, Residence Services, the Housing Assistant is responsible for providing support to the Housing department including but not limited to room inventory, student assignments/admissions; check ins and check outs. The main duties of this position include communicating with prospective and current residents about processes with room assignments, responding to customer, university and departmental inquiries and adminstrative support to the Residence area.
The successful incumbent will have excellent communication skills, good organizational and prioritization skills as well as exemplary customer service skills. Applicants must also have the ability to work independently; complete work in an accurate and thorough manner while paying attention to detail; maintain confidentiality and deal with situations in a professional, service oriented and tactful manner.
Interested applicants should have a post-secondary secretarial/ofice administration certificate as well as a minimum of two (2) years’ experience which include adminstrative and secretarial duties and customer service. Previous experience working in a university or college housing environment is preferred. Applicants also need to have working knowledge of Microsoft office including Word, Access and Excel. Working Knowledge of StarRez is an asset.
The successful applicant will be a team player who can work flexible and varied hours. Occasional weekends will be required three (3) to four (4) times a year.
This position is included under the MacEwan Staff Association Collective Agreement. Please note; initial salary placement for external candidates is limited to the first five steps of the salary grid.
