The Department of English in the Faculty of Arts and Science at MacEwan University invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing July 1, 2018, subject to final budgetary approval.

The Department of English seeks a candidate who can contribute to our fast-growing minor in Creative Writing, with the ability to teach courses in at least two genres. Genres of particular interest include but are not limited to creative non-fiction, stage and/or radio play, poetry, or screenwriting. Novelists and short story writers will be considered providing they actively publish in at least one of the above-mentioned genres as well.

The Department of English at MacEwan offers undergraduate honours, major and minor programs in English, as well as a growing minor in Creative Writing. The department also delivers a robust first-year English requirement to the university at large. The successful candidate will teach introductory and advanced courses in creative writing, and will also teach first-year courses in academic writing and/or literature.

Preferred candidates will hold an MFA or its equivalent in creative writing, with a significant demonstrated record of nationally-recognized publication and/or production. Additionally, they will demonstrate a primary commitment to undergraduate teaching and an ongoing research program.
