The Human Resources (HR) Department has an exciting opportunity for a full time term HR Functional Analyst to join its dynamic team.

As part of the Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) team within Employee Information Services you will work closely with the rest of your HR colleagues, as well as counterparts in Finance and Information Technology to optimize our use of the PeopleSoft Human Capital Management (HCM) application. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Supporting strategic decision making in the organization through data management (extracting and auditing data from PeopleSoft), data reporting, analysis (evaluating trends, benchmarking, and forecasting) and working closely with clients to identify their data requirements, assess their needs and provide knowledge and expertise regarding HCM data

• Reviewing and enhancing process and procedures with a continuous improvement mindset to effectively and efficiently maximize the use of PeopleSoft and improve the user experience;

• Preparing business requirements documents;

• Analyzing, testing and maintaining application configuration;

• Developing impact analysis and implementing strategies to manage change for large or small functionality changes;

• Conducting functional- and user acceptance testing on system changes;

• Creating documentation such as user reference guides;

• Developing, delivering, and facilitating system training for users;

• Providing client support to the University; troubleshoot, resolve, and manage service requests

• Investigating and resolving issues.


The ideal candidate will be outcomes focused, comfortable with change processes, possess the ability to think analytically, and creatively approach issues and challenges. Strong interpersonal and communication skills that ensure positive, productive relationships with clients and colleagues are critical in this role. The successful candidate will have experience in training and facilitation and have the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of people with different needs. Demonstrated experience analyzing HR processes with the ability to map them into HR technology solutions.


Candidates should have a related undergraduate degree (equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered). Three years of functional experience with HRIS applications is required, preferably PeopleSoft Human Capital Management. How toProficiency in PeopleSoft Query is important to be successful in this role; experience with SQL coding would be a definite asset. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of HR practices and significant experience working in HR client services. The ability to align the HRIS applications with the current HR policies and programs would be considered an asset. Preference will be given to candidates with experience working in the public sector or unionized environment.
