Reporting to the Manager, Payroll Services, the incumbent will prepare and generate biweekly payroll, process records of employment, reconciliation of payroll accounts to the general ledger, prepare journal entries, as well as the administration and generation of various reports when processing benefits, leave of absence, and pension. The incumbent will also participate in monthly, quarterly, and year end activities. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a thorough understanding of accounting principles, internal controls, and continuous process improvement.

In this busy and dynamic work environment, the ideal candidate must have strong analytical, attention to detail, time management and organizational skills. The ideal candidate must be flexible to adapt to various work assignments and system requirements, and work well under pressure to meet tight deadlines. Excellent verbal and communication skills, along with the ability to be diplomatic when managing sensitive issues will allow you to be successful in this position.

The successful candidate must have completed the Canadian Payroll Association Payroll Compliance Practitioner program, along with a minimum of five years of extensive and progressive experience in executing the full payroll cycle, time and labour administration, reconciliations, reporting, and intermediate Microsoft Office experience. Equivalencies will be considered. Preference will be given to candidates with working knowledge of Employment Standards, CRA payroll legislation, and PeopleSoft HR/Payroll system work experience.
