The University’s Faculty of Nursing includes two departments; the Department of Nursing Science and the Department of Psychiatric Nursing. For life-long learners, the Centre for Professional Nursing Education offers a variety of innovative Continuing Education programs grounded in evidence-informed practice. All students can receive hands-on experience in The Clinical Simulation Centre, where students practice skills and critical thinking in a state of the art learning environment.
The Faculty of Nursing invites application for Full Time Faculty Advisor(s) commencing approximately March 1, 2018.
Faculty Advisor responsibilities include advising students both individually and in large groups, advise students on completing their program requirements, providing accurate information regarding degree and graduation requirements for programs within the Faculty of Nursing, interpreting University policies and procedures as they relate to students, and working collaboratively with other advisors and support units. Duties also include providing student registration assistance, developing advising materials and presentations, and supporting the Dean’s Office with program review, policy implementation, and other matters that may arise related to students.
Preferred candidates will have post-secondary academic advising experience and a sound knowledge of nursing education programs. All applicants must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential. Candidates must possess excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills, be attentive to detail, flexibility in approach, and have the ability to present to large groups.
