Reporting to the Director, of Health, Safety and Environment, the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Associate assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the MacEwan University Health, Safety and Environment Program. The HSE Associate provides a best-practices approach to client groups on an extensive range of health, safety and environment topics.
The position assists in developing a culture of health and safety with employees within Faculties and Departments. The HSE Associate is responsible for consulting on hazard assessment and control, developing safe work procedures and codes of practice, conducting inspections and audits and facilitating health and safety related training.
The HSE Associate can demonstrate knowledge of a wide variety of health and safety hazards. Has excellent communication skills and problem-solving skills with a customer service focus. Experience in Google Applications would be an asset.
The candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience implementing Health, Safety and Environment Programs, working in a laboratory environment, investigating incidents and conducting inspections and audits.
The successful candidate will be eligible for or working towards a CRSP designation and a valid class 5 driver’s license
The candidate will have a Bachelors degree, diploma or certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Also, have attended an auditor training course and familiar with the function of auditing OHS programs
