The Faculty of Fine Arts and Communications (FFAC) is recruiting for a full-time continuing position of Financial Analyst. The Financial Analyst supports the Dean’s Office by providing financial analysis to maximize operational efficiencies and for reporting purposes. This position is responsible for preparing budgets and reports; documenting financial processes and audit outcomes; ensuring that all department transactions meet policy requirements; monitoring the flow of intra-departmental and inter-departmental funds to ensure appropriate transfers are made in a timely manner; and monitoring all areas of revenue and expenditure. The Financial Analyst assists FFAC faculty and staff by clarifying policies and procedures; providing guidance in the use of the PeopleSoft Financial module; and assisting with the completion of financial transactions. Working closely with other departments, the Financial Analyst acts as the FFAC contact for computer refresh cycles, maintains Faculty records of administrative computer status, and integrates this information with budget planning.
This position requires above-average attention to detail, critical thinking, and analytical skills. The successful candidate with have a strong customer service orientation, with well-developed interpersonal, problem-solving, and negotiation skills. The role requires the ability to synthesize financial and non-financial information to analyze operational effectiveness, and the ability to present financial information in an understandable manner to non-financial constituents. Proficiency is required in the Microsoft Office suite (Excel at the advanced level), and Adobe Acrobat; familiarity with Google Docs would be an asset.
A minimum of a diploma in business, finance, or accounting with some undergraduate degree coursework that will lead to a professional accounting designation. A degree with coursework leading to a professional accounting designation is preferred. A minimum of five years of related experience, preferably in a post-secondary environment, and experience working with PeopleSoft (Financial) at the intermediate level. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
