Opportunity

The Faculty of Fine Arts and Communications (FFAC) of MacEwan University is recruiting for a full-time continuing position of University Advisor. The University Advisor is responsible for academic advising for two programs in the Department of Theatre: Theatre Arts and Theatre Production. The University Advisor provides detailed program information to current and prospective students, and to other members of the public; and supports student progress by: advising students, assisting them with registration, and assisting them with tracking their progress throughout their program of study. The University Advisor is also responsible for participating in recruitment activities; scheduling space; providing support for events such as auditions and performances; and various administrative tasks in the Department.

Skills

The successful candidate must be service-oriented and have proven critical thinking, problem solving, and organizational skills. The University Advisor must be able to work independently and respond quickly and effectively to multiple demands. This position requires attention to detail and strong verbal and written communication skills.

Qualifications

The position requires an individual with a related degree, or a diploma with related experience; 3 – 5 years of related administrative experience, including experience advising students in a post-secondary environment; proficiency in MicroSoft Office and Google docs; and experience working with PeopleSoft Campus Solutions or comparable enterprise software. Some knowledge of theatre would be an asset. Some equivalencies may be considered.
