Reporting to the Dean, the Director, Academic and Language Preparation will provide the overall leadership and management of the English as an Additional Language and University Preparation units. Working with faculty, university advisors, and program assistants, the Director will manage the process for running, evaluating and reviewing both programs; while ensuring the student-centered supports. The Director will participate in the recruitment, selection, orientation, supervision and evaluation of faculty and manage the unit's budget.
Interpersonal, decision making and conflict resolution skills are essential. Excellent oral and written communication, ability to interpret and apply policies and business practices, knowledge of pedagogical practices and the theory and methodology of TESL and/or the Alberta Education high school curriculum is required.
Master's degree in education or related field as well as a combination of relevant teaching and supervisory experience is required. A Bachelor in Education with extensive school administrative experience may be considered. Minimum of five years' experience teaching plus a minimum of five years' educational administrative experience is required. Expertise in hiring, coaching and mentoring faculty and staff while managing program budgets and student enrolments. Experience in teaching high school and/or English language learners. International teaching experience will be considered an asset.
