The 48 space Early Learning at MacEwan (ELM) is the laboratory school for the Early Learning and Child Care Program (ELCC), as well as a fully operational accredited child care centre providing services to the University community as well as the broader community.
Early Learning at MacEwan (ELM) located at the City Centre Campus is currently recruiting for a Child Care Worker II, Family & Community Liaison. The primary role of this position is to support families with the navigation of supports and resources and build community partnerships. This position will provide support to the room teams by providing assistance to children in each room. They will demonstrate the philosophy of the centre when working with young children, ELCC students, community professional and parents. This position will demonstrate professionalism in all areas.
The centre is open from 7:15 am to 5:45 pm, Monday to Friday. The hours of work will vary between these times. This is a temporary, 18-month term opportunity
The successful applicants will have strong interpersonal communication and professional team skills, and an ability to work with a diverse group of children and families.
The ideal candidate must be able to relate comfortably to all children and families, demonstrate a high degree of physical and mental stamina; and demonstrate flexibility, dependability, initiative, and a positive and enthusiastic attitude.
The successful candidate must have Level II Child Care Certification in compliance with the Alberta Child Care Licensing Regulation or equivalent as well as courses in Social Work, Early Child Care, or related field. A current Red Cross or St. John First Aid certificate is required. A minimum of one years’ work experience working with young children and families is required. Experience with trauma practices is an asset.
Upon hire, the successful candidate will need to provide a clear Criminal Record Check including a Vulnerable Sector search.
