The 48 space Early Learning at MacEwan (ELM) is the laboratory school for the Early Learning and Child Care Program (ELCC), as well as a fully operational accredited child care centre providing services to the University community as well as the broader community.
Early Learning at MacEwan (ELM) located at the City Centre Campus is currently recruiting for a Child Care Worker I. The successful candidate must be able to articulate and model professional child care practice. In this position, the incumbent will be working within a child care team to support children with additional needs, in an inclusive, play based environment. This position works in partnership within an interdisciplinary team to carry out goals for children.
The centre is open from 7:15 am to 5:45 pm, Monday to Friday. The hours of work will vary between these times. This is a full-time continuing opportunity.
The successful applicants will have strong interpersonal communication and professional team skills, and an ability to work with a diverse group of children and families.
The ideal candidate must be able to relate comfortably to all children and families, demonstrate a high degree of physical and mental stamina; and demonstrate flexibility, dependability, initiative, and a positive and enthusiastic attitude.
The successful candidate must have child care certification in compliance with the Alberta Child Care Licensing Regulation as well as a current Red Cross or St. John First Aid certificate. A minimum of one years’ work experience working with young children and families is required.
Upon hire, the successful candidate will need to provide a clear Criminal Record Check including a Vulnerable Sector search.
