Professional Resource Faculty: Clinical Placement Coordinator

MacEwan University has a long-standing history of providing quality nursing education that is relevant and reflective of current nursing practice in the province and across Canada.  The university’s Faculty of Nursing includes the Department of Nursing Science that offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) degree; the Department of Psychiatric Nursing that offers a Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing (BPN), and a Psychiatric Nursing Diploma; as well as the Department of Interprofessional Nursing Education and Simulation Learning in which the Centre for Professional Nursing Education and the Clinical Simulation Centre provide specialized programs. The Centre for Professional Nursing Education offers a mosaic of innovative continuing education programs grounded in evidence-based practice and responsive to a dynamic health care environment. The Clinical Simulation Centre (CSC) is 25,000 square feet of authentic clinical spaces that set the stage for students to practice skills and critical thinking in a realistic learning environment.

Applications are invited for the position of Clinical Placement Coordinator (CPC) within the Department of Nursing Science. Reporting to the Chair, the CPC supports the DNS with clinical placement coordination, clinical agency and program evaluation, and ensuring standards are met in accordance with agency Student Placement and Work Integrated Learning Agreements. This position provides operational support for clinical-based learning across the program with agency partners at local and regional levels. This individual will meet regularly with clinical placement providers and coordinators across the province to facilitate the establishment of new clinical learning opportunities and foster the enhancement of current clinical placement partnerships.

Candidates must hold a baccalaureate degree in Nursing and have at least three years of current nursing practice within health settings. A graduate degree in nursing or related field is preferred. Preferred candidates will have experience in a variety of nursing practice environments, solid foundational nursing knowledge, an appreciation for inter-professional collaboration, strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and ability to use a variety of computer programs such as Word, Excel and Access. Ability to travel to rural clinical placement agencies may be necessary. Previous teaching experience, particularly clinical supervision in a nursing education program would be an asset.

Active licensure with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA) is required.

This position is for a full-time tenure-track appointment as a Professional Resource Faculty member (as per the MacEwan University Faculty Collective Agreement).
