Opportunity

We are seeking a 12-month term Grounds Worker for our Facilities Division. 

The Facilities Division at MacEwan University is the largest service department. Facilities
designs, maintains and operates our campuses and grounds, ensuring that they are
secure, clean, functional, sustainable, and inspiring.

The Grounds Worker is responsible for maintaining the grounds area at all campuses. He/she must be able to provide twenty-four-hour response to winter weather conditions. It is his/her responsibility to perform duties by adhering to all safety regulations and safe work practices.

This position has an end date of (on or before) September 30th, 2019.

Position Requirements

Position Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Operate landscaping equipment

  • Able to safely work with chemicals

  • Able to work outdoors in all types of weather

  • Excellent mechanical aptitude

Special Requirements:

  • Possess a valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License

  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing using the English language

  • Be in general good physical condition and health

  • Able to work flexible hours

  • Knowledge of WHMIS and OH&S Regulations

  • Knowledge of horticultural best-practices

Qualifications

Education:

  • Completion of Grade 12


Experience:

  • Minimum of one-year landscape maintenance or relevant educational background
