MacEwan University has a long-standing history of providing quality nursing education that is relevant and reflective of current nursing practice in the province and across Canada. The university’s Faculty of Nursing includes the Department of Nursing Science that offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) degree; the Department of Psychiatric Nursing that offers a Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing (BPN), and a Psychiatric Nursing Diploma; as well as the Department of Interprofessional Nursing Education and Simulation Learning in which the Centre for Professional Nursing Education and the Clinical Simulation Centre provide specialized programs. The Centre for Professional Nursing Education offers a mosaic of innovative continuing education programs grounded in evidence-based practice and responsive to a dynamic health care environment. The Clinical Simulation Centre (CSC) is 25,000 square feet of authentic clinical spaces that set the stage for students to practice skills and critical thinking in a realistic learning environment.
Applications are invited for a full-time 9-month limited term appointment as a Professional Resource Faculty member whose focus will be in designing, integrating, and deploying multimodal simulation-based learning. The successful candidate will work as a member of our simulation team in the Clinical Simulation Centre to operationalize simulation in curricula though resource planning for personnel, physical spaces, and equipment.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, and a Master’s degree in Nursing or another healthcare related field; a doctoral degree in Nursing is preferred. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience teaching clinical nursing in a post-secondary environment. Certification as a simulation educator, or formal training as a simulation educator is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates that have at least one year of experience as a simulation educator with experience in teaching with simulators, simulated patients, or virtual platforms. Candidates must have demonstrated ability to design simulation-based learning experiences, and strong computer skills, particularly with Excel and other MS Office products. Active licensure or eligibility for licensure with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta, and current CPR certification, are required.
