The Department of Music is situated within the Faculty of Fine Arts and Communications (FFAC) of MacEwan University. In September 2017 FFAC moved into Allard Hall, a new $200-million state-of-the-art facility located in close proximity to the downtown arts district.

The Department of Music at MacEwan University is seeking a highly-qualified individual to fill a new full-time tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate’s principal duties will be to teach in the Bachelor of Music Recording and Production major, which is a new major in the BMus beginning in the 2019-20 academic year. The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge of the theory and practice of music recording and production. Core courses will include studio and academic courses: recording, production, technical ear training, mastering, and related courses in digital audio applications. Based on experience and credential, the successful candidate may also be asked to develop curriculum in the core area and teach courses in other areas of the BMus.
 
The successful candidate will have extensive professional experience as a recording
engineer and producer of contemporary popular music and possess a terminal degree in the field (graduate degree such as MMus or equivalent master’s degree). Applicants must have a strong interest in teaching as a career priority. Research/creative work and service to MacEwan governance are also essential and will form part of the negotiated workload for the successful candidate. The ability to work effectively in a collegial environment is very important.
