Payroll Services Analyst

MacEwan University has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic team player to join the Payroll Services team on a full-time continuing basis as a Payroll Services Analyst.
Reporting to the Manager, Payroll Services, the Payroll Services Analyst will prepare and generate biweekly payroll, process records of employment, reconciliation of payroll accounts to the general ledger, prepare journal entries, as well as the administration and generation of various reports when processing benefits, leave of absence, and pension. The Payroll Services Analyst will also be responsible for the assigned monthly, quarterly, and year end activities as well. The ideal candidate will also demonstrate a thorough understanding of payroll legislation, accounting principles, internal controls, and continuous process improvement.
In this busy and dynamic work environment, the ideal candidate must have strong analytical, attention to detail, time management and organizational skills. The ability to be flexible and adaptable to various work and system requirements, and work well under pressure to meet tight deadlines is a requirement for the position of Payroll Services Analyst. In addition, excellent verbal and communication skills, along with the ability to be diplomatic when managing sensitive issues will allow you to be successful in this position.
The successful candidate must have completed the Canadian Payroll Association (CPA) Payroll Compliance Practitioner program, along with a minimum of five years of progressive experience in executing the full payroll cycle, year-end reconciliation, reporting, and intermediate Microsoft Office experience and minimum of five years accounting experiences. Equivalencies will be considered. Preference will be given to candidates with PeopleSoft HR/Payroll system work experience, working knowledge of Employment Standards, Collective agreements, CRA payroll legislation collective agreements and labour laws.
