The university’s Faculty of Nursing includes the Department of Nursing Science, the Department of Psychiatric Nursing, and the Department of Interprofessional Nursing Education and Simulation Learning.
MacEwan University Department of Nursing Science is a preferred choice in undergraduate nursing education for central and northern Alberta. The BScN program fosters evidence-informed opportunities that are supported by advanced technology to inspire confident and credible practitioners. Criticality, caring and complexity science provide a philosophical foundation for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) program. The Department of Nursing Science is guided by its academic strategic plan that commits to: being a leader in nursing education; fostering excellence in research and scholarship; and encouraging an inclusive and engaged community.
Applications are invited for a full-time Assistant Professor appointment (One-Year Limited Term). The BScN program emphasizes development of a strong disciplinary knowledge base, diverse nursing practice skills, and demonstration of professional attributes. The program is designed to integrate and sequence fundamental nursing concepts and theory for individuals, families, groups, populations, and communities within diverse health and illness experiences.
All applicable areas of expertise and specialization will be considered; however, we are especially interested in applicants with advanced knowledge in Indigenous ways of knowing, nursing knowledge development, and/or intersectionality. The primary instructional assignment involves teaching nursing practice foundations and acute care nursing across the lifespan.
The successful candidate must have a minimum of 5 years of acute care clinical experience and 5 years post-secondary teaching experience and lab instruction. Strong organization, writing skills and interpersonal skills with the ability to work as a team member are required. Candidates should possess enthusiasm for teaching, strong presentation skills, and a commitment to building a distinctive MacEwan curriculum. Minimally, candidates must have graduate degree in nursing and active licensure or eligibility for licensure with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta.
