MacEwan University is seeking an experienced Financial Analyst for our School of Continuing Education.
The Financial Analyst will manage the cost recovery and base budget accounts within the School including revenue generating units such as the Conservatory of Music, SCE
International and Professional and Continuing Studies as well as government grants (Foundation Learning Grant).
• Technical skills: Excel (advanced level), Word (basic), Access (intermediate), PeopleSoft (intermediate);
• Above-average critical thinking skills;
• Above-average interpersonal and negotiation skills;
• Above-average attention to detail;
• Well-developed verbal and written communication skills;
• Ability to analyze and interpret financial information;
• Ability to synthesize financial and non-financial information to analyze operational effectiveness;
• Ability to present financial information in an understandable manner to non-financial constituents;
• Ability to apply initiative and work with limited supervision to produce results;
• Ability to understand and apply policies and procedures.
The successful incumbent must have a diploma in business, finance or accounting with some undergraduate degree coursework leading to a professional accounting designation as well as a minimum of five years’ related experience, preferably in a post-secondary environment. A degree with coursework leading to a professional accounting designation (CPA) is preferred.
Knowledge of general accounting practices is required; individual must ensure that the budgets are accurate and following the university's requirements in order to avoid risk to the School and the institution.
