Opportunity
The Facilities Planner is instrumental in composing functional and academic needs programming, space planning, conceptual designs and building and renovation solutions to optimize the use and development of university physical resources. The incumbent will apply knowledge and expertise in best practices, emerging trends, applicable codes, standards, regulations and zoning bylaws to campus planning and design. The Facilities Planner will also be proficient in the utilization of CAD and CAFM/IWMS programs to develop plans, designs and space solutions.

Skills
The incumbent requires strong organizational and analytical problem skills, along with effective interpersonal skills. This position also requires excellent oral and written communication skills. Furthermore, the ability to demonstrate creative and entrepreneurial approach to opportunities will be required. The candidate should also have excellent judgment, inspire high standards of excellence, be self-motivated and actively contribute to the overall department plan.

Position Requirements
This position requires effective collaborative skills, balanced with the proficiency to work independently under time constraints.

Qualifications
The incumbent must possess a bachelor’s degree in architecture, interior design, and/or facilities planning. A diploma in one of these areas may also be considered.

The successful candidate must also possess 10 years’ experience in one of the following:
o Campus facilities department, working as a planner/designer.
o Campus health centre or hospital environment, working as a planner/designer.
o Architectural consulting firm, working as a planner/designer.

This position is included under the MacEwan Staff Association Collective Agreement. Please note; Article 22.1.1 (Grid Placement); initial salary placement for external candidates is limited to the first three steps of the salary grid.
