Residence Life Coordinator (36-month term)

Opened in September 2005, the MacEwan Residence is located at the City Center Campus and houses nearly 900 students in a variety of bachelor, 2 bedroom and 4 bedroom suite-style units. Our goal is to provide a safe, secure and affordable housing option to students that supports their learning, development and personal growth.
The Department of Residence Services is currently seeking an enthusiastic and committed individual to fill the role of Residence Life Assistant Coordinator. Reporting to the Manager, Residence Life, the Residence Life Coordinator is responsible for developing, administering and promoting residence life, including achieving a high standard of community living that facilitates positive and directed student development.
The successful incumbent will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, crisis intervention and conflict resolution, strong judgment, critical thinking and decision-making skills. Applicants must also have the ability to work independently; complete work in an accurate and thorough manner while paying attention to detail; maintain confidentiality and deal with situations in a professional, service oriented and tactful manner.
Interested applicants should have a diploma in a related field including, but not limited to humanities, student development or management a minimum of (2) years’ experience in a residence life role. Equivalencies will be considered. Applicants also need to have working knowledge of Microsoft office including Word, Access and Excel. Working Knowledge of StarRez and E-Rezlife is an asset.
The successful applicant will be a team player who can work flexible and varied hours. Security Clearance Check will be conducted as a condition of employment. There is a mandatory live-in requirement for this position in an assigned private furnished suite within the Residence as a taxable benefit to the incumbent. The incumbent will share on-call (carry cell phone) responsibilities for emergency after hours coverage.

This position is included under the MacEwan Staff Association Collective Agreement. Please note; Article 22.1.1 (Grid Placement); initial salary placement for external candidates is limited to the first three steps of the salary grid.
