The MacEwan Technology Resource Centre is seeking a candidate for a Technician level 1 position. The Technology Resource Centre is the technology hub in the new Allard Hall at City Centre Campus with access to the computer commons, print center, equipment distribution center as well as classroom and technology support.
Duties include end-user support for Apple applications and computers, printing support, support for audio visual and computer technology in the classroom and support and direction to students using the University network and internet resources. This position is responsible for circulating specialized audiovisual program equipment and supports bookings and access to secure student spaces.
This is a part time casual position working late evenings and weekends, with flexibility to cover shifts as required between September - May.
Position Skills & Requirements
The successful candidate will have/be:
• Extensive MAC operating systems experience.
• Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office 365 and Google.
• Experience in supporting PeopleSoft or Blackboard are an asset.
• Experience with wireless configuration and troubleshooting on all mobile devices.
• Experience supporting audiovisual and multimedia equipment.
• Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines with little supervision.
• Demonstrated strong organizational skills with a focus on providing exceptional customer service.
• Strong communication skills including phone, in person, email as well as internal documentation and tracking.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve basic technical issues.
• Assertive and resourceful; willing to ask questions and take initiative.
Candidates must have a minimum of a 2-year technology related diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution. Training can be in audiovisual technology, multi-media, graphic design or computer systems technology.
Candidates must have a minimum of one-year experience in a multi-media technology support environment or working with audiovisual equipment. Experience with public service and/or end user support is an asset.
