The Faculty of Health and Community Studies at MacEwan University invites applications for the position of Sessional Instructor – Field Placement in the Early Learning and Child Care Program.

The Early Learning and Child Care Program is a two-year diploma program that prepares graduates for work in a variety of early childhood settings (0-8 years), including daycares, preschools, early intervention and family support programs.  Our program emphasizes the integration of theory with practice and includes extensive field placement hours.  Field placement is offered in partnership with over 100 community based early learning and care programs in the Greater Edmonton area.  The successful candidate will mentor field placement students and conduct field placement visits.

Applicants for this position should have a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related discipline and current knowledge of early learning theory, curriculum and practice. Those with a Master’s degree in progress or an equivalent degree and substantial front line experience will be considered.

Applicants should at minimum have 3 years of experience working directly with children and families in early learning and child care programs and 3 years of experience in a leadership role providing mentorship and supervision to early learning and child care educators or students. The ideal candidate will have some formal teaching experience at a post-secondary level and/or experience in providing professional development opportunities in the field.  Successful candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to professional practice, strong interpersonal and team skills and be able to support learners from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds.  A flexible schedule is required to accommodate field placement timetables each term. Position is set to begin Fall 2019.

This position is included under the Faculty Association collective agreement.
