MacEwan University is seeking a professional and welcoming Admin Support II for our Services to Students with Disabilities department.
This Reception/Administrative position is responsible for supporting the University and Services to Students with Disabilities to achieve their missions. As the initial point of contact for students, staff and faculty accessing resources from SSD, the receptionist is essential to creating a positive first impression of the department's professional and student-centered service model. As it's common for students approaching SSD to feel apprehensive or concerned, the receptionist has to use highly developed customer service skills to listen carefully to inquiries, express sensitive understanding, provide accurate information and facilitate access to the most appropriate departmental resource and/or to refer to another campus department. As part of a dynamic team, the receptionist works collaboratively with all members of the SSD department to facilitate an accessible post-secondary educational experience for students with disabilities. The receptionist is also responsible for fulfilling key administrative responsibilities of the department deemed to be essential to an efficient and accountable use of resources.
Three-five years experience in an office administration/clerical position
Experience in post-secondary is an asset
Experience working with individuals with disabilities is an asset
Exceptional interpersonal skills including empathetic listening
Knowledgeable and experienced in the confidential management of personal information (consistent with FOIP)
Sensitivity to and understanding of diversity in student population
Able to work well under pressure and to make good judgments quickly
Maturity, sensitivity and tact
Good team player
Proficiency in using current Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Access)
