MacEwan University has a long-standing history of providing quality education that is relevant and reflective of current clinical practice in the province and across Canada. The university’s Faculty of Nursing the Department of Interprofessional Nursing Education and Simulation Learning in which the Centre for Professional Nursing Education and the Clinical Simulation Centre provide specialized programs and educational supports. The Centre for Professional Nursing Education offers a mosaic of innovative continuing education programs grounded in evidence-based practice and responsive to a dynamic health care environment. The Clinical Simulation Centre (CSC) is 25,000 square feet of authentic clinical spaces that set the stage for students in various disciplines to practice skills and critical thinking in a realistic learning environment.
Applications are invited for a full-time 18-month limited term appointment as a Professional Resource Faculty member whose focus will be collaborating with faculty to design, integrate, deploy and evaluate multimodal simulation-based learning. Another responsibility includes faculty development related to simulation education. The candidate’s primary responsibility is to support the delivery of clinical simulation in the Faculty of Nursing. On occasion, this position may also support programs offered by the Faculty of Health and Community Studies. The Professional Resource Faculty member is expected to be responsive and supportive to curricular needs across a multitude of programs of study.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in a health care discipline. The ideal candidate will have a relevant Master’s degree, and at a minimum, 2 years of post-secondary environment clinical teaching experience. Certification or formal training as a simulation educator is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in teaching with simulators, simulated patients, or virtual platforms. Candidates must have demonstrated an ability to design simulation-based learning experiences, and strong computer skills, particularly with Excel and other MS Office products. A proven track record of working in a future-focused environment with frequent change is also required. The successful candidate must hold an active unencumbered license with a relevant College identified within the Alberta Health Professions Act.
