MacEwan University has a long-standing history of providing quality nursing education that is relevant and reflective of current nursing practice in the province and across Canada.  The university’s Faculty of Nursing includes the Department of Nursing Science, the Department of Psychiatric Nursing, and the Department of Interprofessional Nursing Education and Simulation Learning.

The BScN program, offered through the Department of Nursing Science (DNS), fosters meaningful learning experiences using a variety of teaching methods and approaches to inspire confident, competent, compassionate and ethical graduate nurses. The DNS is supported in our teaching by a state of the art clinical simulation center. The program emphasizes development of a strong disciplinary knowledge base, diverse nursing practice skills, and demonstration of professional attributes.  Criticality, caring and complexity sciences provide a philosophical foundation for the program of study. The Department of Nursing Science commits to: being a leader in nursing education; fostering excellence in research and scholarship; and encouraging an inclusive and engaged community.
 
Applications are invited for two full-time tenure-track appointments in the Department of Nursing Science, at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing July 1, 2020, subject to final budgetary approval.  Requirements include: minimum of 3 years recent teaching experience in nursing, preferably in an undergraduate learning environment; minimum of 5 years of practice experience; a graduate degree in nursing, preferably at the doctoral level; and active licensure or eligibility for licensure with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta.  Candidates should possess passion for teaching undergraduate nursing students, solid presentation skills, enthusiasm for developing research capacity in others, and a strong commitment to contribute to service opportunities within the Department, Faculty and University.  All applicable areas of expertise and specialization will be considered.

Applicants should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, teaching dossier (including recent teaching evaluations, if available), statement of research interests, a sample of scholarly work, and names and contact information for three references. Short-listed candidates will make a short teaching presentation as part of the selection process.
