MacEwan University has a long-standing history of providing quality nursing education that is relevant and reflective of current nursing practice in the province and across Canada.  The university’s Faculty of Nursing includes the Department of Nursing Science, the Department of Psychiatric Nursing, and the Department of Interprofessional Nursing Education and Simulation Learning.

The Department of Psychiatric Nursing offers a Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing (BPN) and a Psychiatric Nursing Diploma.  The mission of the department is to provide transformative learning opportunities through psychiatric nursing education and professional practice. The department is guided by the vision of psychiatric nurses making a difference in the health and wellness of global communities. The Psychiatric Nursing Programs are offered in Edmonton, Ponoka and on-line.
 
Applications are invited for a full-time tenure-track appointment in the Department of Psychiatric Nursing, at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing July 1, 2020, subject to final budgetary approval. The initial instructional assignment will be in Ponoka, with the possibility of future instructional assignments including courses based in Edmonton and/or on-line. Travel is required.

Requirements include: minimum of 5 years of relevant clinical experience; a graduate degree in nursing or a related field, preferably at the doctoral level; and an active unencumbered license or eligibility for licensure with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta. Preferred candidates will also have recent theoretical and clinical teaching experience in nursing, preferably in a post-secondary learning environment. Candidates with on-line teaching and course development experience and an active research program are also preferred.

Applicants should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, teaching dossier (including recent teaching evaluations, if available), statement of research interests, sample of scholarly work, academic transcripts and names of three potential references.  Short-listed candidates will make a short teaching presentation as part of the selection process.
