Enterprise Cloud Analyst

The IT Application Services (ITAS) department of Information & Technology Services is recruiting for an experienced Enterprise Cloud Analyst. Reporting to the Team Lead – DBA and Cloud Infrastructure, this full-time continuing position provides critical support of enterprise cloud-hosted services for MacEwan University. The successful candidate will have considerable experience in the upgrade, maintenance and day-to-day support of Microsoft and Google cloud applications.
Ensure Office365 environment is administered and running smoothly, including Exchange, SharePoint, Teams and OneDrive.
Utilize various auditing tools to keep track of mail flow and file access such as Cisco ESA, Microsoft E-Discovery and auditing tools, and G-Suite reporting and auditing tools.
Establish and maintain process and procedure for tracking application configuration and related changes.
Oversee change management for the environments by keeping active relationships with cloud vendors, monitoring published release notes, participating in communities of interest and actively participating in IT change management and architecture management processes.
Oversee service requests to cloud vendors to ensure that services are delivered in a timely manner consistent with contracts. Ensure that standards are developed and adhered to for service requests and vendor engagement. During service disruption, ensure that effective internal communications are managed.
Be the source for technical expertise in the ongoing development of cloud service architecture. As a participant on a variety of teams within IT, this position ensures that enterprise cloud solutions are developed and implemented to meet the strategic goals of the university.
Participate in the development and review of business cases to ensure that the university realizes value in its cloud service offerings.
Partner with IT security in ensuring that cloud service offerings are implemented and operate in a compliant, secure manner.
Demonstrate a clear understanding of the university’s complex integrated environment between on-premise and cloud environments. This includes the flow of data into and out of the environments, the impact on system functionality and the security implications.
Develop and manage scripts in Windows and Unix environments as required to automate tasks and interact with the O365/Exchange environments through Windows PowerShell.
Have a complete understanding of the architecture of the university’s email systems (Microsoft and Google) for all constituents and oversee the day to day operation of email communications for the university.
Maintain lists, groups, aliases and configuration related to email functionality and security.
Provide input to and monitor results of email security configuration.
Ensure that alerts from cloud vendors regarding security breaches are turned into actions on the university’s part.
Hardworking individual, quick learner with a good eye for continuous improvement.
Proven ability to work well independently and as a team member.
Ability to appropriately prioritize tasks.
Ability to maintain knowledge of current and emerging technology and trends.
Excellent Microsoft Windows and Windows PowerShell skills.
Relevant Microsoft and Google Cloud certifications is highly desirable.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
A minimum of 7-10 years supporting and administering Microsoft and Google cloud applications plus a bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline is required. A suitable combination of education and experience will also be considered.
