Sessional Instructor – Paralegal Studies
School of Business

The Department of International Business, Marketing, Strategy and Law in the School of Business invites applications for a part-time sessional appointment in the Paralegal Studies Diploma program to teach LEGL 116 Legal Computing and Procedures. This course will commence in the fall of 2020.

This first-year paralegal course aims to develop student proficiency in preparing basic legal documents and correspondence as well as carrying out essential tasks in the legal environment. In addition to developing keyboarding skills, students learn the fundamentals of tasks such as conflict searching, file opening and account preparation. Students become proficient with Microsoft Word and other programs in the Office Suite as well as well as other commonly used software (such as Adobe) and equipment used in the modern legal environment.

The ideal candidate for this position has a minimum of three to five years of experience in a legal setting, has highly developed keyboarding and word processing skills and extensive experience and knowledge of legal /office software and processes. A graduate degree and/or previous teaching experience would be an asset although other combinations of credentials and experience will be considered.
