Student Affairs is seeking an individual for a casual reception position to be the first point of contact for individuals accessing a variety of services at Student Affairs Reception and the Building 7 Welcome Centre. This includes services such as counselling, academic integrity, student conduct, student of concern, future students and guests to the university. The successful candidate will greet clients, assist students booking appointments, respond to emails, telephone calls and in-person requests as well as provide administrative support to this area. The ability to maintain confidentiality and deal with various situations in a professional, service-orientated and tactful manner is essential.
This is a casual position, Monday through Friday, and will work a minimum of 11 hours per week. Individuals with flexibility to work additional hours during peak times and to cover staff vacations would be an asset.
Ability to exercise good judgement and tact in dealing with diverse people and individuals in stressful situations
Experience working with others in a helping capacity is an asset
A positive attitude and the ability to communicate and work well with team members
Good attention to detail and organizational skills
Proficient knowledge of MS Office Suite and Google Documents
Possess excellent and well-demonstrated verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Able to be respectful and maintain boundaries always
High School Diploma and Office Administrative Certificate or equivalent.
Six months experience in a reception area or front facing environment providing exceptional customer services.
Experience dealing with confidential information/records
Experience in a post-secondary institution would be considered an asset
