Reporting to the Team Lead, Employee Services, the Human Resources Assistant is responsible for providing administrative and operational support to the Employee Services (ES) team. This position will support the team by coordinating internal and external client requests via email or phone, respond to general questions on HR policy and process, and update external applicants on competition status. Supporting the ES Coordinators, this position will assist with the administrative recruitment functions such as posting positions, assisting search committees, preparing letters of employment and onboarding. This position will support biweekly processing of employee new hires and terminations, update benefit and pay information, maintain positions, and ensure that quality assurance and data integrity is sustained in the system.
The successful candidate will have outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interpret and action information from clients. The ability to work in a fast-paced team environment and a high level of flexibility is required. Strong computer skills and organizational skills with great attention to detail is essential. The incumbent must be able to analyze, set priorities, problem-solve and exercise judgment related to competing transactional requirements. Successfully managing multiple priorities and deadlines while offering prompt service to clients and other HR staff is required.
The successful candidate will have a Human Resources diploma with one to two years of experience in a similar role. Equivalencies will be considered. Prior experience using HR information systems, specifically PeopleSoft HCM, would be an asset.
