MacEwan University’s Department of Communication invites applications for a full-time tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing July 1, 2021. This new faculty position will play an important role in teaching core courses primarily in the Professional Communication major of the Bachelor of Communication Studies (BCS) degree.
Candidates will hold a PhD in Communication Studies or a cognate discipline and will demonstrate experience in and a commitment to undergraduate teaching with an ongoing interest in research in the discipline. In addition to professional experience, teaching experience in a post-secondary environment and strong interpersonal and communication skills, the successful candidate will have a commitment to innovative teaching as well as providing leadership in some new and existing programming.
Located in Edmonton, Alberta, MacEwan University provides a transformative education in a creative, collaborative and supportive learning environment. 19,000 full- and part-time students are enrolled in more than 65 programs. Two years ago, FFAC moved to the new, world-class, $200 million Allard Hall as part of MacEwan University’s main campus in downtown Edmonton. The program recently opened a state-of-the-art TV production studio including two newsrooms designed for use by communication faculty and students. This is in addition to wired classrooms, study rooms, labs and other learning spaces available for students in the program.
Applicants should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, teaching dossier (including recent teaching evaluations), statement of research interests and a sample of scholarly work along with the names and contact information of three referees. Review of applications will commence January 11, 2021 and the competition will remain open until the successful candidate has been found. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.
