MacEwan University has a long-standing history of providing quality nursing education that is relevant and reflective of current nursing practice in the province and across Canada. The university’s Faculty of Nursing includes the Department of Nursing Foundations, the Department of Human Health and Science, Department of Health Systems and Sustainability, Department of Nursing Practice and the Department of Professional Nursing and Allied Health.

Applications are invited for a full-time tenure-track appointment in the Department of Nursing Foundations, at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing July 1, 2021, subject to final budgetary approval.

Faculty in the Department of Nursing Foundations bring together discipline-specific foundational nursing courses for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing Diploma and the Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing programs.  These foundational nursing concepts are further refined through more advanced courses that build upon each student’s understanding of the role, scope and application of standards of practice for nursing and psychiatric nursing. Faculty are committed to delivering learner-centred teaching and advancing student engaged research.
Requirements include minimum of 5 years relevant clinical experience with 3 years recent teaching experience in nursing, preferably in an undergraduate learning environment. Candidates will have completed a graduate degree in nursing or a related field and preferably at the doctoral level.  Candidates will also have an active unencumbered license with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta. Candidates should possess a passion for teaching undergraduate nursing students, solid presentation skills, and a strong commitment to contribute to service opportunities within the Department, Faculty and University. All applicable areas of expertise and specialization will be considered. An active research program and the ability to develop research capacity in others will be considered an asset.
