MacEwan University has a long-standing history of providing quality nursing education that is relevant and reflective of current nursing practice in the province and across Canada. The university’s Faculty of Nursing includes the Department of Nursing Foundations, the Department of Human Health and Science, Department of Health Systems and Sustainability, Department of Nursing Practice and the Department of Professional Nursing and Allied Health.
Applications are invited for a full-time tenure-track appointment in the Department Human Health and Science, at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing July 1, 2021, subject to final budgetary approval. The initial instructional assignment will be in Edmonton, with the possibility of future instructional assignments including courses based in Ponoka and/or on-line. Travel may be required.
Faculty members in the Department of Human Health & Science are experts in their fields of biological sciences and nursing. Courses delivered by this department are provided to students in the following programs: Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing Diploma and the Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing programs. The interdisciplinary knowledge gained from these courses is applied within a variety of clinical settings as the students’ progress through their academic programs.
Requirements include minimum of 5 years of relevant clinical experience; a graduate degree in nursing or a related field, preferably at the doctoral level; and an active unencumbered license with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta. Candidates will also have recent theoretical and clinical teaching experience in nursing, preferably with on-line teaching and course development experience in a post-secondary learning environment. Candidates should possess a strong commitment to contribute to service opportunities within the Department, Faculty and University. An active research program and the ability to develop research capacity is preferred.

Short-listed candidates will make a short teaching presentation as part of the selection process.
