MacEwan University has a long-standing history of providing quality nursing education that is relevant and reflective of current nursing practices in the province and across Canada. The university’s Faculty of Nursing includes the Department of Nursing Foundations, the Department of Human Health and Science, Department of Health Systems and Sustainability, Department of Nursing Practice and the Department of Professional Nursing and Allied Health.
Applications are invited for a full-time tenure-track appointment as Laboratory Supervisor, in the Department of Nursing Practice commencing July 1, 2021, subject to final budgetary approval.
Faculty members in the Department of Nursing Practice are experts in nursing leadership, education and research. They are committed to excellence in professional practice and passionate about nurturing students in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing Diploma, Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing, and Nursing Refresher programs. This interdisciplinary team facilitates student integration and application of foundational knowledge and diverse skills in the classroom, seminar, lab, and clinical practice settings.
The primary role of the Laboratory Supervisor will be to support laboratory learning for students enrolled in Faculty of Nursing programs. Responsibilities include an annual instructional assignment, nursing student practice support and nursing student remediation. This position requires an individual who possesses the nursing and teaching theoretical knowledge, experience and organizational skills necessary to create a positive and responsive learning environment for students and other faculty members. Other responsibilities may be assigned.
The successful candidate must have a minimum of 3 years of acute care clinical experience and ideally 3 years post-secondary teaching experience. Strong organization and interpersonal skills with the ability to work as a team member are required. Candidates should possess enthusiasm for teaching, and a commitment to supporting and facilitating success of student learning. Preference will be given to candidates with a completed graduate degree in nursing. Minimally, candidates must have an undergraduate degree in nursing and active, unencumbered license or be eligible for registration with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta or the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta.
