MacEwan University has a long-standing history of providing quality nursing education that is relevant and reflective of current nursing practice in the province and across Canada. The university’s Faculty of Nursing includes the Department of Nursing Foundations, Department of Human Health and Science, Department of Health Systems and Sustainability, Department of Nursing Practice and Department of Professional Nursing and Allied Health.
Applications are invited for two full-time tenure-track appointments in the Department of Health Systems & Sustainability, at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing July 1, 2021, subject to final budgetary approval. The initial instructional assignment will be in Edmonton, with the possibility of future instructional assignments including courses based in Ponoka and/or on-line. Depending on teaching assignment, travel may be required.
The Department of Health Systems and Sustainability is focused on systems thinking, global health and leadership to effectively prepare students to practice in complex environments. Through partnerships with academic leaders and community partners we are expanding interdisciplinary education and international opportunities for faculty and students in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing and the Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing programs.
Requirements include: minimum of five (5) years relevant clinical experience with three (3) years recent teaching experience in nursing, preferably in an undergraduate learning environment. Candidates will have a completed graduate degree in nursing or a related field; preferably at the doctoral level. Candidates will also have an active, unencumbered license with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta. Candidates should possess a passion for teaching undergraduate nursing students. An active research program and the ability to develop research capacity in others is an asset. Candidates should also have a commitment to participate in service opportunities within the Department, Faculty and University. All applicable areas of expertise and specialization will be considered.
Applicants should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, teaching dossier (including recent teaching evaluations, if available), statement of research interests, sample of scholarly work, academic transcripts and names of three (3) references. Short-listed candidates will be asked to create and present a teaching session as part of the selection process.
