MacEwan University has a long-standing history of providing quality nursing education that is relevant and reflective of current nursing practices in the province and across Canada. The university’s Faculty of Nursing includes the Department of Nursing Foundations, the Department of Human Health and Science, Department of Health Systems and Sustainability, Department of Nursing Practice and the Department of Professional Nursing and Allied Health.
Applications are invited for a full-time tenure-track appointment as Laboratory Supervisor, in the Department of Professional Nursing and Allied Health (Perioperative Nursing Program) commencing July 1, 2021, subject to final budgetary approval.
Faculty members in the Department of Professional Nursing and Allied Health are experts in nursing leadership, education and research. They are committed to excellence in professional practice and continuing education in nursing. This interdisciplinary team facilitates student integration and application of foundational and specialty practice knowledge and skills in theory, lab, and clinical practice settings.
The primary role of the Laboratory Supervisor will be to support the Perioperative Nursing Program for Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses. Responsibilities include an annual instructional assignment, nursing student practice and remediation support, liaising and maintaining relationships with accrediting bodies and clinical practice partners, and supporting program accreditation processes. This position requires an individual who possesses the nursing and teaching theoretical knowledge, experience and organizational skills necessary to create a positive and responsive learning environment for students and other faculty members. Other responsibilities may be assigned.
The successful candidate must have a minimum of 5 years of perioperative clinical experience and ideally 3 years post-secondary or clinical teaching experience. Strong organization and interpersonal skills with the ability to work as a team member are required. Candidates should possess enthusiasm for teaching, a commitment to supporting and facilitating success of student learning, and advancing perioperative nursing education. Candidates must have an undergraduate degree in nursing, graduated from a perioperative nursing education program, and active, unencumbered license or be eligible for registration with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta and hold membership with the Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada. Preference will be given to candidates with a completed graduate degree in nursing, and those who hold a CPN(c).
