MacEwan University has a long-standing history of providing quality nursing education that is relevant and reflective of current nursing practice in the province and across Canada. The university’s Faculty of Nursing includes the Department of Nursing Foundations, the Department of Human Health and Science, Department of Health Systems and Sustainability, Department of Nursing Practice and the Department of Professional Nursing and Allied Health.
Applications are invited for a full-time tenure-track appointment in the Department of Professional Nursing and Allied Health, at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing July 1, 2021, subject to final budgetary approval.
Faculty members in the Department of Professional Nursing and Allied Health are experts in nursing leadership, education and research. They are committed to excellence in professional practice and continuing education in nursing. Faculty in this department have a primary role in supporting the Nursing Refresher Program, and may also support courses in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and Diploma of Psychiatric Nursing Programs. As educators, faculty in this department facilitate student integration and application of foundational knowledge and diverse skills in the classroom, seminar, lab, and clinical practice settings
Requirements include: Minimum of 5 years relevant clinical experience with 3 years recent teaching experience in nursing, preferably in an undergraduate learning environment. Candidates will have completed a graduate degree in nursing or a related field and preferably at the doctoral level. Candidates will also have an active unencumbered license or be eligible for registration with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta. Candidates should possess a passion for and knowledge of teaching undergraduate nursing students, solid presentation skills, and a strong commitment to contribute to service opportunities within the Department, Faculty and University. All applicable areas of expertise and specialization will be considered. An active research program and the ability to develop research capacity in others will be considered an asset.

Short-listed candidates will make a short teaching presentation as part of the selection process.
