Assistant Professor, Office Assistant Program

The Office Assistant Program is a comprehensive program that provides students with an opportunity to specialize in one of three majors: Medical, Legal and Administrative. Students will complete core courses along with specialized courses within each major. The Office Assistant program is ideal as a foundation for other careers or as a complement to prior training and experience. It runs for 12 months full time ending with a field placement or part-time over 18-24 months.
The School of Continuing Education invites applications for a full-time tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing July 1, 2021, subject to final budgetary approval.
The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge and experience in office administration with expertise in at least one of the specializations. Field placement supervision may be an expectation of this position; therefore, an understanding of and experience within this area would be an asset. The successful candidate will also have a clear understanding of interdisciplinary practice and will demonstrate knowledge of legal issues, ethics, and relevant legislation relating to office administration practices within both public and private organizations.
Candidates must have a minimum of 10 years professional experience in Office Administration along with a record of teaching at the undergraduate level. Candidates with a Ph.D. in a related field are preferred; however, consideration will be given to candidates with a minimum of a Master’s degree. A strong understanding of the principles of adult education and curriculum development will be assets for the successful candidate. The candidate will also possess excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills and be able to work as a collaborative team member.
In addition to an interdisciplinary teaching workload within the unit, the successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for teaching undergraduate students and have a willingness to engage in service to the Department, Faculty, and University.
