School of Continuing Education

Opportunity

English as an Additional Language provides a full range of reading/writing and listening/speaking courses that support diverse learning in developing academic English for further post-secondary education. University Preparation (UP) provides a full range of core high school courses that are prerequisites for college or university programs, skills-training programs, apprenticeship training or technical institutes. All EAL and UP courses are offered in an exciting university environment with quality instruction and individualized attention to help ensure success.

Applications are invited for sessional EAL and UP positions in the Department of Academic and Language Preparation (ALP). In EAL, expect to teach a combination of Intermediate and Academic reading and writing as well as listening and speaking courses. In UP, expect to teach a combination of Math and Science or English and Social courses. All courses follow the McEwan University Calendar and are offered face-to-face or online. We are currently seeking candidates with recent experience and qualification to teach adult students in the areas listed above.

Requirements to teach in UP include a Bachelor of Education and/or a Masters in one of the areas of instruction listed above. Requirements to teach in EAL include a university degree, and a minimum of TESL Canada Level One Professional certification. Candidates should possess strong practical knowledge and skills; and enthusiasm for teaching adult learners who are focused on academic preparation.
