Additional offerings include university preparation, English as an Additional Language, professional and personal development courses and workshops, corporate training and the Conservatory of Music.

Opportunity


The kihêw waciston Indigenous Centre is looking for the ideal candidate to increase cultural awareness throughout the university, while supporting Indigenous Student Success. The incumbent will provide support university wide for Indigenous initiatives, including in class and some curriculum support, event management and logistics for ceremonial activities, ensuring that the University adheres to the relevant protocols, while establishing and maintaining relationships internal and external to the university.
This position will provide students with the opportunity to grow within a community environment that honors the distinctive knowledge of Indigenous peoples. The Indigenous Knowledge Keeper/Facilitator aims to facilitate better understanding of challenges Indigenous students may face within the broader university community.

This is a full-time 12-month term position.

Skills

The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of Indigenous protocols and be highly intuitive to the needs of the students and the University within this diverse group.  Candidates should have:
•    Strong Critical thinking skills
•    Strong organizational skills
•    Excellent problem solving and negotiation skills
•    Excellent communication skills

Qualifications

•    Knowledge Keeper
•    Knowledge of Indigenous languages (spoken) is required

Position Requirements 

Travel may be required for off campus activities. Some evenings and weekends may be required.
