The Office of Communications and Marketing (OCM) at MacEwan University has an opportunity for a Social Media Coordinator to join its dynamic team of marketing and communications professionals.

The Coordinator works with the OCM team to support the university's recruitment, marketing and communications plans by creating, monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of targeted paid advertising campaigns on platforms including GoogleAds, Facebook and Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn.

The Coordinator also creates engaging and meaningful organic social media content to build meaningful connections with students, university employees, university stakeholders and the community at large.


The successful candidate must possess an excellent understanding of best practices and have proven experience in creating advertising and organic content across online platforms including Google Ads, Facebook and Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter. The successful candidate must also have a strong working knowledge of analytics for both promoted and organic social media content. The successful candidate will show a commitment to adapting to the trends in social media tools and the constant evolution of the industry. The ideal candidate has excellent interpersonal skills and will be adept at collaborating with and acting as a resource/subject matter expert for the university academic and business areas and student groups. The incumbent will also act in a customer service capacity on social media platforms. We are seeking a flexible team player with strong planning, analytical and problem-solving skills. The position requires excellent organizational skills and written and verbal communication skills.


The successful candidate should hold a degree in a related field and a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in planning and creating social media strategies and advertising campaigns with measurable goals and objectives. Experience in a post-secondary environment and the fields of marketing and communications is an asset. Equivalencies will be considered.
