MacEwan University is seeking an experienced Accounting Tech II for our Financial Services department.

The Accounting Technician II – Student Receivables is accountable for contributing to the success of the university mission of providing lifelong learning opportunities to the community it serves by ensuring the integrity and accuracy of student accounts and taking action as required. The incumbent is responsible for monitoring and reconciling daily payment card transactions to ensure completeness; reconcile student financial transactions with the bank, and supporting the student refund process, and other duties as assigned.


  • Intermediate computer skills (MicroSoft Office applications, particularly with use of Excel)

  • Excellent command of the English language both written and verbal

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Accurate data entry skills

  • Strong analytical mindset

  • Self-starter, self-motivated with great attention to detail

  • Ability to deal diplomatically with student concerns and confidentiality as it pertains to FOIP regulations

  • Ability to make sound judgment when refunding in accordance to university policy

  • Strong personality and mental toughness to be able to deal with students

  • Ability to adapt to new or changing technology

  • Good working knowledge of enrollment and payment procedures and refund policies


The successful incumbent must have an Accounting Diploma (or related discipline) equivalent to two years' post-secondary accounting education.
A minimum of three (3) years' of accounts receivable experience within a mid-to-large size computerized environment is requried. Experience in other accounting functions such as Accounts Payable is a definite asset.
