Residence Life Assistant

Opened in September 2005, the MacEwan Residence is located at the City Center Campus and houses nearly 900 students in a variety of bachelor, 2 bedroom and 4-bedroom suite-style units. Our goal is to provide a safe, secure, and affordable housing option to students that supports their learning, development and personal growth.
The Department of Residence Services is currently seeking an enthusiastic and committed individual to fill the role of Residence Life Assistant. Reporting to the Supervisor, Residence Life, the Residence Life Assistant is responsible for developing, administering, and promoting residence life, including achieving a high standard of community living that facilitates positive and directed student development.
This is a full-time 36-month replacement term position.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Crisis intervention and conflict resolution skills
Strong judgment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
Excellent organizational and management skills
Strong initiative and follow-through
Computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Effective leadership and facilitation skills
Working knowledge of StarRez and/or E-Rezlife is an asset
Certificate or Diploma in a related field including, but not limited to humanities, student development or management
One to two years' experience in a residence life leadership role
Position Requirements (optional)
The successful applicant will be a team player who can work flexible and varied hours. Security Clearance Check will be conducted as a condition of employment. There is a mandatory live-in requirement for this position in an assigned private furnished suite within the Residence as a taxable benefit to the incumbent. The incumbent will share on-call (carry cell phone) responsibilities for emergency after hours coverage.
